New at Multitubes; the tube with an E.V.O.H barrier!

What is an EVOH Barrier?

EVOH, (Ethylene vinyl alcohol), is a synthetic polymer which is a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl alcohol.

What is EVOH used for?

EVOH has excellent barrier properties against, for example, oxygen, gases, solvents and oils. This is why it’s often used in packaging for, for example: food products, (natural) cosmetics, industrial products and pharmaceutical products, in order to extend their storage life, to combat any possible odours and to stop the packaging from deforming.

How does EVOH work in an extruded tube?

EVOH’s oxygen permeability is +- 1.500 times lower than HDPE’s (high density poly ethylene) and +- 4.000 times lower than LDPE’s (low density poly ethylene). Multitubes B.V. processes EVOH in multi-layer films, as EVOH doesn’t withstand moisture well (see illustration).

Layer 1. LDPE  (low density poly ethylene )
Layer 2. Bonding agent = Double-sided adhesive
Layer 3. EVOH barrier
Layer 4. Bonding agent = Double-sided adhesive
Layer 5. LDPE (low density poly ethylene)

Tubes with an EVOH barrier are just as easy to recycle as mono layer tubes. So environmentally friendly, cost effective and socially responsible!
